Arta lies in northwestern Greece, about 350 km from Athens, according to the municipality's tourist guide.
By car
The A5 motorway (Ionia Odos, part of the European route E951) and national roads 5 and 30 run through the area. According to This is Epirus, Arta is about one hour from Ioannina and about 45 minutes from Preveza and Aktion airport. You need a car for the villages and the Ambracian Gulf. Only one mountain road leads towards Thessaly.
Buses
The municipality's guide mentions the Arta–Kompoti urban bus and the Arta KTEL. I found no timetables, so ask at the KTEL before you plan.
