Olives and Konservolia Artas

The Konservolia Artas olive has had a Protected Geographical Indication since 1994 and is exported across Europe and beyond.

The Konservolia Artas was certified as a Protected Geographical Indication product in 1994. According to the Discover Arta guide, it is exported to France, Germany, Austria and South Africa.

Where it grows

Olives grow mainly in the hilly areas of Arta, with groves also in the mountains and near some of the mouths of the Arachthos.

In the kitchen

Olive oil is the key ingredient in the pies of Epirus. I found no official production figures, so no numbers are given.

Planning your visit

  • Try the olive as a meze or inside Epirus pies.
  • Look for the PGI mark on the packaging.
