Chanopoulo is a lowland village at 15 metres, on the slope of Marathia hill (also called Gkelmperini), beside the Ionian Motorway. It is about 9 km northwest of Arta and 6.5 km east of Filippiada.
The thermal spring
The Chanopoulo mineral spring was the first in Western Greece recognised by the Ministry of Tourism during a recent effort to relicense the area's thermal resources. The municipality's tourist guide says the baths have been known since antiquity.
Kastri
At the site called “Kastri” there are ruins of a castle from the Hellenistic period.
